Our Butter Library
Each butter below is listed alphabetically with its primary skin benefits and honest profile — including which skin types it suits best. At Everlasting Organics, transparency is foundational. Not every butter is right for every skin type, and we believe you deserve to know the difference.
The calm in every formula. Aloe vera butter captures the legendary soothing power of fresh aloe gel in a stable, skin-loving butter base — delivering all the cooling, healing benefits of aloe with the added richness of a nourishing fat. Packed with polysaccharides, enzymes, vitamins B, C, and E, and natural salicylic acid, it calms inflammation, reduces redness, and accelerates the healing of sunburns, minor wounds, and reactive or post-procedure skin. Its gentle hydrating properties restore moisture without heaviness, while its natural clarifying compounds help brighten and even skin tone over time. Ideal for sensitive, inflamed, or sun-exposed skin — and a beautiful addition to after-sun care, facial creams, and lightweight body formulas. Suitable for all skin types.
A nutrient powerhouse crafted from the creamy flesh of ripe avocados. Brimming with vitamins A, D, and E alongside omega-9 fatty acids and phytosterols, avocado butter penetrates deeply to nourish, repair, and replenish skin at the cellular level. It actively supports collagen production — improving elasticity and smoothing fine lines over time — while its antioxidant profile neutralizes free radicals and slows visible signs of aging. Particularly beneficial for dry, mature, or compromised skin, it delivers lasting hydration and helps heal damaged areas including rough patches and chronically irritated skin. Best suited for dry to normal skin types.
The lightweight alternative to coconut — all the moisture, none of the heaviness. Derived from the babassu palm nut of Brazil, this melt-on-contact butter is rich in lauric acid and absorbs effortlessly into skin without clogging pores or leaving behind a greasy film. Its high vitamin E content and natural antioxidants defend against oxidative and environmental damage, while its gentle anti-inflammatory properties calm conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Non-comedogenic and universally compatible, it creates a soft protective barrier that seals in hydration and shields skin from daily stressors. One of the best butter choices for oily, combination, or acne-prone skin that needs moisture without weight. Suitable for all skin types including oily and sensitive.
The original luxury body butter — rich, aromatic, and deeply restorative for the skin that needs it most. Extracted from the cacao bean and one of the most antioxidant-stable fats in nature, cocoa butter forms a beautifully protective, occlusive barrier on the skin that seals in moisture, shields against environmental aging, and softens rough, dry, or stressed skin over time. Its polyphenol content fights free radical damage, while its dense fatty acid profile — particularly stearic and oleic acids — deeply conditions and helps improve elasticity with consistent use, making it a trusted ally for stretch marks, scars, and parched body skin. Its natural chocolate warmth also gives it a distinctive, grounding aromatic quality. An important note for your skin: cocoa butter has a high comedogenic rating, making it best suited for body use and very dry or mature skin — not recommended for facial use on oily or acne-prone skin.
The Amazon's most extraordinary moisture-binding butter. Cold-pressed from the seeds of the cupuaçu fruit — a prized superfruit native to the rainforest and a botanical relative of cacao — this butter has an unmatched ability to absorb water and lock in hydration, holding up to 240% of its own weight in moisture. Its unique blend of fatty acids alongside phytosterols gives it exceptional emollient and anti-inflammatory properties, leaving skin feeling velvety soft while supporting elasticity and soothing inflammation. Cupuaçu is particularly powerful in body butters, balms, lip products, and rich creams designed for dry, mature, or environmentally stressed skin. Like cocoa butter, it is a rich, occlusive butter — best suited for dry to very dry skin on the body or mature facial skin. Not recommended for oily or acne-prone skin.
A rare and exceptional butter from the wild Illipe tree of the Borneo rainforest, celebrated for its remarkably long-lasting moisturizing properties and firm, stable texture. Similar in composition to cocoa butter but with a higher melting point, illipe is prized by formulators for the structure and stability it brings to balms, lip products, and body butters. Its rich fatty acid profile conditions and softens the skin deeply, helping restore elasticity to dry, cracked, or damaged skin, while offering some natural protection against UV-related stress. A particularly effective choice for dry, mature, or weather-damaged skin and a beloved ingredient in high-performance lip and nail care formulations. Derived from a tree nut — patch test recommended for those with tree nut sensitivities.
One of the hardest, most stable butters in nature — and one of the most effective for the skin. Pressed from the seeds of the Garcinia indica fruit native to coastal India, kokum butter is prized for its exceptionally high stearic acid content, which gives it remarkable skin-softening, barrier-strengthening, and moisture-locking power. Despite its firmness, it has a low comedogenic rating and absorbs without clogging pores — making it a rare butter that works beautifully for sensitive and acne-prone complexions as well as dry skin. Its natural firming properties support elasticity and help tighten skin over time, making it a standout in anti-aging formulations. Deeply cooling and anti-inflammatory, it offers gentle, lasting relief for eczema, rashes, cracked heels, and parched skin. Suitable for all skin types including acne-prone and sensitive.
A tropical indulgence that performs as beautifully as it feels. Cold-pressed from the seed of the mango fruit, this lightweight yet deeply nourishing butter absorbs more readily than shea or cocoa and leaves minimal greasy residue — making it a favorite among natural formulators for creams, lotions, and facial applications. Rich in vitamins A and C alongside essential fatty acids, mango butter supports cell regeneration, reduces the visible signs of aging, and helps restore elasticity to skin that has lost tone or moisture. Its gentle anti-inflammatory properties make it a calming choice for eczema, psoriasis, and other inflammatory conditions, helping to rebuild the skin's natural protective barrier. Best suited for dry to normal skin types. Those with oily or acne-prone skin should use with caution, as its comedogenic rating of 2–4 may not suit all complexions.
A treasured Amazonian butter from the murumuru palm, celebrated for its satiny skin feel and exceptional barrier repair properties. Notably high in lauric and myristic acids, murumuru delivers strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action — soothing conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne-prone skin while simultaneously locking in moisture and rebuilding the lipid barrier. Despite its dense fatty acid profile, it melts smoothly and absorbs with a silky, non-greasy finish that feels immediately luxurious on the skin. It restores suppleness and elasticity to dry and damaged skin and is equally prized in hair care for nourishing dry, curly, or chemically processed hair. A beautiful, versatile formulation butter for body butters, balms, lip products, and rich creams.
The solid expression of one of the world's oldest and most revered skin-nourishing oils. Olive butter is created from cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil and carries its full beneficial profile in a rich, stable butter form. Abundant in vitamins A and E, squalene, and oleic acid, it promotes skin cell regeneration, neutralizes free radical damage, deeply conditions dry or depleted skin, and helps restore a soft, supple, youthful appearance. Its squalene content — a lipid naturally found in human sebum — makes it exceptionally biocompatible and well-tolerated by a wide range of skin types. Best suited for dry, mature, or environmentally stressed skin on the body and face. A nourishing, time-honored choice for rich balms, creams, and body formulations.
A lesser-known but deeply worthy butter from the Shorea robusta tree, native to the Indian subcontinent. Sal butter shares a similar fatty acid profile to cocoa butter but spreads more easily and blends smoothly into formulas — making it an excellent workhorse in body butters, lotions, and balms. Rich in antioxidants and nourishing fatty acids, it forms a soft protective film on the skin that locks in moisture, shields against environmental stressors, and soothes dry or irritated skin with genuine effectiveness. A quiet but reliable addition to any butter collection, particularly valued for its skin feel and emollient performance in body care formulations.
Africa's gift to skincare — and the gold standard of natural butters. Cold-pressed from the nut of the Vitellaria paradoxa tree, shea butter is one of nature's most complete skin foods. Rich in vitamins A, E, and F alongside five essential fatty acids, triterpenes, and natural cinnamic acid esters, shea delivers intense, long-lasting hydration without clogging pores (comedogenic rating 0–2). Its triterpenes have been scientifically shown to inhibit the enzymes responsible for collagen breakdown — actively fighting the structural causes of aging skin — while its vitamin A content supports cellular renewal and its natural anti-inflammatory compounds calm redness, irritation, and flare-ups. With consistent use, shea softens rough patches, helps fade fine lines, improves skin elasticity, accelerates healing of scars and sunburns, and has been shown in studies to outperform petroleum-based products for eczema relief. A founding ingredient in nearly every Everlasting Organics formula. Suitable for all skin types including sensitive and eczema-prone.
A remarkable Amazonian butter from the tucuma palm — a tree so resilient it is known to survive and regrow after fire. Cold-pressed from its seeds, tucuma butter is rich in lauric, myristic, and oleic acids alongside carotenoids and antioxidant polyphenols, giving it powerful cell-rebuilding and repair properties. It absorbs beautifully without clogging pores, leaving a luminous, slip-rich finish on the skin. Tucuma neutralizes environmental toxins on contact with skin and helps ease eczema and psoriasis symptoms. Particularly valuable in skin and hair care formulations for dry, damaged, or environmentally stressed skin — and frequently described as nature's answer to silicone for the way it coats and protects without the harmful side effects. Suitable for all skin types including dry and sensitive.
A hard, deeply protective butter cold-pressed from the seeds of the ucuuba tree of the Amazon, one of the lesser-known but genuinely effective Amazonian butters in the natural formulator's toolkit. Exceptionally rich in lauric, myristic, and palmitic acids, ucuuba provides strong anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties — making it a useful ingredient for irritated, inflamed, or acne-prone skin. Its dense barrier properties help defend and restore the skin's surface, and it is known to promote healthy cellular development. It has a characteristic brown color and earthy aroma that will influence the color of formulations, so it is typically used in combination with other butters and carrier oils rather than as a stand-alone ingredient. Best suited for body care products and formulations designed for dry, compromised, or inflamed skin.
