Finding Peace in the Chaos: The Power of Faith-Filled Self Care

Life has a way of coming at us fast. Between responsibilities, unexpected losses, and everyday pressures, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or even emotionally drained. We all experience seasons of grief, frustration, and discouragement—but it’s in these very moments that self-care becomes not just important, but essential.
For me, self-care is sacred. It’s more than just a pampering ritual—it’s a chance to reconnect with God, honor my body, and slow down enough to hear His voice through the stillness.
When the weight of the world feels heavy, I draw myself a hot bath. I’ll sprinkle in Epsom salts to help my muscles unwind, a handful of rose petals for a touch of beauty, and baking soda for its gentle detoxifying power. I let the water hold me, calm me, as I breathe deeply and release the tension I’ve been carrying all day.
Once I step out, I choose a body butter—whichever scent my spirit is craving. Whether it’s calming clary sage, sweet rose, or warm vanilla, I massage it in with intention, as if I’m reminding myself: you are worthy of love and care. Then I apply my magnesium lotion infused with frankincense—such a peaceful and grounding aroma. It helps my body rest, and my mind begin to settle.
I cleanse my face, slip into my softest pajamas, and find the most relaxing position I can. Sometimes I sit in stillness and simply breathe. Other times, I read my Bible, letting the words wash over me and remind me of the truth: I am not alone. God is always near.
This routine helps me recenter. It shifts my focus from everything I’ve lost or fear to everything I’ve been given. It helps me exchange sorrow for peace, heaviness for light, and worry for gratitude. Because even in the middle of life’s storms, His blessings are still all around us—we just have to pause and see them.
So tonight, if life feels a little too much, I encourage you to create space for yourself. Run that bath. Light that candle. Talk to God. And allow yourself to feel held by the One who loves you most.
You are not alone. You are deeply loved. And you are worthy of rest
